TODAY’S VERSE

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:11 ESV

DEVOTIONAL

Did you know that God has always loved you? God is eternal, which means He doesn’t have a beginning or an end, so His love for you is eternal too. God’s love for you is also unconditional and sacrificial. That’s just a fancy way of saying He loves you no matter what you’ve done and in a way that costs Him. God so loves the world (including you) that He gave His only Son, Jesus; And Jesus gave up His life so you can be forgiven and live with Him forever. That should fill you with joy and make you want to show God’s love to others.

There are many ways you can show God’s love to people. Perhaps you could give up some of your time to help a teacher. You can donate toys or pocket money to help someone in need. You could make a card for someone who’s sick, give a friend who’s sad a hug, or ask someone how you can pray for them. One of the most important things you can do to show God’s love is tell others that Jesus died on the cross for them, so they can be forgiven for their sins too! Can you think of some other ways to show God’s love to others?

PRAYER

Dear God, thank You for loving me unconditionally and sacrificially. Please help me to love others in the same way, and help me to tell others what Jesus did for all of us on the cross. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
