Too often the church is considered an institution instead of a family. It was never meant to be an event simply attended, but an invitation into a life of divine belonging. In family life you don't just consume, you give.
Jesus modelled this for us perfectly. Though He was Lord of all, He chose the posture of a servant—washing feet, welcoming the outsider, and laying down His life for others. When we follow Him, we’re invited into that same way of living: humble, sacrificial, and full of love.

At Village, we believe the way we welcome people reflects the heart of Jesus. The Welcome Team is more than a handshake or a smile—it’s our first opportunity to embody the Gospel. Whether someone is walking into church for the first time or the hundredth, we want them to feel at home, known, and seen. In a world marked by isolation and performance, we intentionally slow down to notice people, offer peace, and invite them into a family shaped by grace.

Sharing tea or coffee before a gathering may seem small, but it's a powerful act of hospitality. In Scripture, meals and cups shared are sacred moments—expressions of welcome, presence, and joy. The Tea & Coffee Team serves not just drinks, but connection. We help create space for conversation, community, and Gospel relationships.

Pauls speaks about the marks of a true Christian in Romans 12 and he begins in vs 9-13, “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour. Do no be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek toshow hospitality” (literally to “pursue hospitality”). It’s a continuous action, something we’ll do for the rest of our lives.
At Village, hospitality is a way of life—not an event, but an expression of the Kingdom of Jesus. We follow a Saviour who welcomed the outsider and shared meals with those on the margins. The Hospitality Team creates space for people to belong—to be seen, known, and loved. In a city where individualism often isolates, we choose the way of welcome. From making soup to setting out chairs, every act of service is a reminder that the Church is not a product to consume, but a family to belong to.

We want our children and youth to grow with a deeply rooted confidence in the character of God. They're not just being prepared for future faith—they're invited into it now. Our hope is to partner with parents and carers in the discipleship of their children by creating Gospel-centred environments, using thoughtful curriculum, and offering resources that reveal who God is and what it means to follow Jesus in real life.
In a world full of noise and shallow promises, we want our young people to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and be shaped by His Word. This is not babysitting—it’s discipleship. And we do it together, as a family of faith, walking alongside each child and young person as they grow in Christ.

The teenage years are full of questions, transitions, and identity formation. The Mentoring Team walks alongside young people aged 11+ with the aim of helping them discover who they are in light of who Jesus is. Through consistent presence, honest conversation, and shared life, we point them to the unchanging truth of the Gospel. We don’t offer easy answers—we offer ourselves, shaped by Jesus, and commit to walking the long road of discipleship with the next generation.

Village Tots is a space for parents, carers, and young children (ages 0–4) to come and belong. In the noise and busyness of raising little ones, we create a weekly rhythm of welcome, friendship, and support. We offer play, connection, and rest—and we do it in the name of Jesus. As we laugh, share stories, and wipe up spills, we’re quietly building a community that reflects the hospitality of the Kingdom.

Village Connect is our space for 8–14s to build friendships, ask questions, and grow in faith together. In these formative years, we want to create an environment where young people feel safe, seen, and encouraged to follow Jesus in the everyday. Through games, discussion, teaching, and shared experiences, we help them connect—not only with one another, but with the bigger story God is writing in Belfast and beyond. We’re not just keeping kids entertained—we’re helping shape a generation who know they belong, and who are learning to live in the way of Jesus.

The AV Team serves quietly but meaningfully—helping our gatherings clearly point to Jesus without distraction. Every cable connected and every lyric projected is in service to the Gospel. This isn’t just about tech—it’s about worship. We steward tools and technologies to help people hear truth, encounter beauty, and respond to God. If you love making things work behind the scenes so others can see and hear Jesus more clearly, this might be your place to serve.

Jesus is at the centre of our worship. The Worship Team exists to point our hearts, minds, and whole lives toward Him. We gather not to perform, but to respond to who God is and what He has done in Christ. Whether through song, Scripture, silence or prayer, our aim is to glorify Jesus and stir up the affections of His people. As we grow in skill, humility, and creativity, we want our worship to be both Spirit-led and Scripture-shaped—cultivating a community that worships not just on Sundays, but with their whole lives.

The Buildings & Facilities Team is made up of those who are practically minded, hands-on, and happy to help when needs arise. Whether it’s DIY repairs, maintenance jobs, or having trusted contacts for bigger projects, this team supports the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our spaces safe, functional, and welcoming. You don’t need to be a professional—just willing to lend a hand (or know someone who can!)
