Make Reading the Bible a Habit

Reading the Bible daily is so important because it’s how God shows us what He’s like and how we grow closer to Him. But with the million distractions we all seem to have, it can be so easy to just leave your Bible sitting unopened. There are some things you can do to help you make reading the Bible a daily habit.

  • Pray: Thank God for the precious gift of the Bible and ask Him to give you a desire to spend time with Him, reading His Word.

  • Set a time: It’s easier to be consistent when you set a specific time, then treat that like you would any other regular commitment. Think about it, you make it to school every morning because it’s a commitment that you know you do at a certain time. If you mentally commit to a time, you’ll be more likely to stick to it.

  • Read it with someone: Reading with a parent, sibling or friend is a great way to dive deeper because you can discuss or ask questions about what you read.

  • Think outside the box: You don’t always have to just sit and read quietly. Sometimes you can read out loud or listen to an audio Bible. Or you can get creative by singing a verse or doodling and drawing pictures to help you understand scripture. God made us all differently, so sometimes it’s helpful to try different ways of absorbing His Word as well.

To earn a pompom today, do the first 2 things on the list above - pray & choose a time to read with your Bible Buddy each day.
