TODAY’S VERSE
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11 ESV
DEVOTIONAL
Most people have something that’s really special to them. It might be a teddy bear that you’ve had since you were a baby, a ball or jersey signed by your favourite sports person, or perhaps a video game that you saved your pocket money for ages to buy. Whatever it is, no doubt you keep it somewhere safe, because it’s so important to you.
God’s Word is the most precious treasure you could ever have! Through it, God shows you who He is and how much He loves you. His Word also tells you how He wants you to live, and about His free gift of eternal life through Jesus. Storing His Word in your heart is about more than memorising it, although that’s definitely part of it. When you keep God’s Word in your heart, you’ll cherish it in a way that shapes your thoughts, choices and actions. You’ll want to please and obey God.
So how can you store God’s Word in your heart? Keep reading your Bible, talking it over, memorising verses, studying what they mean, and asking God to reveal Himself to you through His Word!
PRAYER
Dear God, thank You for the Bible! Please help me to read Your Word everyday and to store it in my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
