TODAY’S VERSE

Remember that I commanded you to be strong and brave. So don’t be afraid. The Lord your God will be with you everywhere you go.

Joshua 1:9 ICB

DEVOTIONAL

Joshua was Moses’ assistant while he was leading the Israelites through the wilderness. When Moses was very old and died, The Lord spoke to Joshua and told him to take over leading the people into the land that God had promised them. That was a really big, important job and was probably pretty scary! But God told Joshua that just as He’d been with Moses, He would be with him as well. God would never leave him. He commanded Joshua to be strong and brave, but it wasn’t something he had to do on his own. Joshua didn’t have to be afraid because he could trust God’s promise to be with him wherever he went.

There will be times when you have to be strong and brave too. You might be going somewhere on your own for the first time, such as taking the bus to school. Perhaps you’re going to be a big brother or sister and are unsure how that will change things at home. It could even be that God calls you to do a special job, like He did with Joshua. Whatever the circumstances might be, what God said to Joshua is just as true for you today. God will always be with you. He will never leave you. You never have to be afraid because you can trust in God’s amazing promise to be with you wherever you go!

PRAYER

Dear God, thank You that You are always with me. Please help me to be strong and brave and to rely on You whenever I am afraid. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
