Find a Verse in the Bible
Guess how many verses are in the Bible - over 31,000! When the books were originally written, they weren’t broken down into into smaller parts. Can you imagine trying to find a specific part of the Bible without having a way to narrow it down!? Thankfully in most modern Bibles, each book is divided into chapters and verses to make it easy to find just what you’re looking for. When you start the Bible Buddies reading plan, you’ll need to know how to look up verses. Watch this video to find out how.
To earn a pompom today, find John 3:16 in your Bible and read it out loud.
*Parents of young kids that can’t read yet - Write John 3:16 in big writing. Point out the shape of the letter ‘J’ and have them look for a book that starts with that shape in the table of contents. Start in the New Testament so they don’t get frustrated weeding through multiple books that start with ‘J’! Once they’ve found the book of John, point out the page number and turn to that page for them. If they’re still engaged, you can use the same method with the number ‘3’ and so on. Once you’ve found the verse together, read it out loud to them. Ask them who God’s Son is.
